Care for Your Teeth

Tooth decay and gum disease are caused by plaque, a sticky combination of bacteria and food. Plaque begins to accumulate on teeth over a period of 20 minutes after eating. If the teeth do not wash every day, plaque causes decay. If you do not remove the plaque, it becomes a hard deposit known as tartar and remaining trapped in the tooth base. Plaque and tartar irritate and inflame the gums. By properly care for their teeth and gums, you can help prevent problems such as tooth decay and gum disease (periodontitis). Also don’t forget to teach your children how to brush and the 40pcs elastic interdental brush from an early age to help protect your teeth.

Here are some suggestions for you.

Use floss or water jet oral irrigator at least once a day. It is best done before brushing your teeth. Flossing removes plaque that sits between your teeth and gums and gets rid of the food debris that you couldn’t remove by brushing.

Brush your teeth twice a day with a toothbrush with soft bristles. Brush two minutes each time.

Use toothpaste from the toothbrush toothpaste dispenser that contains fluoride. Fluoride helps strengthen tooth enamel and prevent cavities.

Change your toothbrush every three or four months or sooner if necessary. A worn toothbrush is not as effective to clean their teeth.

Avoid sweets and sweetened drinks. Eating and drinking many sweet things increases your risk of dental caries. If you choose to eat or drink sweet things, brush your teeth soon after.

Do not smoke. Smokers have more problems with teeth and gums than nonsmokers.

Keep dentures, retainers and other appliances clean. This includes brushing regularly. You may also need to soak them in a cleaning solution.

Schedule visits to your dentist regularly. Many dentists recommend having a professional dental cleaning every six months.
